School and Mental Health Aren't Friends...
This week we got to chose our own topics to write about. I decided to write about how school affects the mental health of the students. This is was a pretty interesting topic to read about since I am a high school student that doesn't have the best mental health. As I was doing research I found a survey from 2015 from the American College Health Association that 30 percent of college students feel stressed out because of school, 22 percent of them have anxiety related to school topics, and 20 percent recorded that they have sleep difficulties. ( Suicide Prevention Resource Center ) What I found interesting was that only 14 percent of students suffer from depression. While most kids say they have depression as a joke or when they feel sad for a few hours. So I figured that number would be higher than it is.
